WINE MAKING PARTY WINTER PARK - ORLANDO
Winemaking is an ancient art, where the end result has been enjoyed by people for hundreds, if not thousands of years, all over the world.
COST
Typically for a group of 10 or more it runs $65 per person which includes a two evening event. We do not close the winery for private party's for smaller groups, but all are welcome to come in during normal business hours. Wine making on the first evening, and then bottling, corking and customizing your bottles on the second evening where you will leave with approximately 4 to 5 bottles per person. There are several variations and can be preceeded with a wine tasting of ten to twelve wines. Call for more information.
THE BEGINNING
The winemaking process begins with reverse osmosis purified water, benonite (a finning agent), varietal juice, and yeast. All equipment is washed with and sanitized with an O2 based caustic solution to ward off any bacterial posibilities. The juice is mixed with the benonite in a sterile fermenting bucket.
STIR,,,STIR,,,STIR
The finning agent needs to be completely disolved with the juice and oxygen is increased in the solution for better fermentation by a lot of stirring participation. Also many of the variatals get oak chips stirred in at this time.
The specific gravity of the mixture is taken at this time. This is included on the production label affixed to each batch of wine and is used to keep the fermentation schedule and determine the final alcohol level.
At the party the group looks through the wine label book and begins to create their own personalized label for their wine that will be used on their next visit 6 to 8 week later when they return to bottle and cork their wine.
The bottling party is scheduled when the wine is near ready and all in the party are invited back for the bottling, corking and dressing of their special creation.
Winemaking can be a novel experience in its planning, making, tasting and by the sharing with others, adding to the joy of having a good time with good company.
